Stroll 8 was great. Thank you!

We could not have asked for a more perfect day or a more energetic assembly of Strollers. Thank you for making the Heart and Sole Stroll a tremendous success. Because of your generosity, this year’s Stroll will add almost $100,000 to our funds for breast cancer patients and their families. With the money you raised, we will be able to relieve some of the burdens facing so many patients like the woman who wrote after receiving assistance with her utility payments, “Thank you so much! We didn’t have use of our stove or take hot showers for months and you made our lives not only easier but better. Your assistance helped our family immeasurably. I am unfamiliar with all that you do but from my own experience, I would say you’re doing wonderful things for families that need help during trying times. I am, or shall I say we are all extremely grateful. ”

We hope you had a wonderful time and left Centennial Lake uplifted knowing every email you sent, every phone call you made, every personal appeal for team members and donations, and every step of your 2.4 mile walk mattered in someone’s life. Pictures from the walk are posted online. If you have pictures you would like us to post in the Stroll photo album, send them to us.

So many of you at this year’s Stroll wanted to know how you could own an Every Woman Tee. Here’s your opportunity. When you make an additional $30 donation to The Red Devils, we will send you this shirt (white only) in the size you select as a “Thank You” gift. Details are available here.

Thank you, again, for your continued support.

Best wishes,
The Red Devils

Sip, Spa and Stay Fit

Treat yourself to a sensational Sunday designed to delight the senses and address overall women’s health with the Sunday, October 17 Sip, Spa & Stay Fit event to benefit The Red Devils. Sponsored by the Medi-Spa at Mercy and Mercy Medical Center, this second annual event again will be held in the glass lobby of Mercy’s Weinberg Center, 227 St. Paul Place in Baltimore, from Noon – 3:00 p.m.

Bring your daughters, your friends and yourself to this soothing haven in the midst of one of Maryland’s leading medical institutions, where cutting edge techniques based on sound medicine mix, with holistic practices that address, mind, body and spirit. Top Mercy physicians and medical staff will be on hand to discuss a myriad of women’s health topics in an “Ask the Experts” setting that provides unparalleled access to top medical staff outside of an actual doctor’s office.

Mercy health experts featured include noted cardiologist Dr. Monica Aggarwall, who specializes in clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology, transesophageal echocardiography and women’s healthcare issues; Karen Fick, who will provide nutritional tips for a healthy diet; Rose Truby-Scharff, a noted acupuncturist versed in using this ancient practice for balancing hormones, reducing stress and anxiety; and an expert who will answer questions about bio-identical hormone replacement.

In between health and wellness advice dispensed by top Mercy physicians and staff, plan for an afternoon of pampering at the Medi-Spa at Mercy Medical Center, where mini sessions of soothing reflexology and indulgent chair massages complement skincare consultations at the Spa as well as health and make-up sessions featuring the pure, safe and beneficial line of botanicals and herb-based products from the renowned Swiss-based Arbonne International, one of the featured vendors. Culinary creations and delicacies from Baltimore’s Tremonts will engage the palette of those in attendance. A wine tasting also is planned.

Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door, and include goodie bags. Mini Medi-Spa services that day are available for the first 36 people who sign up on-line. Those who sign up later may still receive coupons good for Medi-Spa services booked during a designated time frame. Additional people also may receive makeup sessions that same Sunday, compliments of Arbonne International reps Cindy Hoke and Victoria Ronan, open to the first 20 who sign up on-line. Pre-registration is a must for any spa service as space is limited; one session, per person. http://sipspaandstayfit.kintera.org

Tasting at the Station

Tasting Invitation

For more than half a century, Mildred Mindell Cancer Foundation (MMCF), an all- volunteer non-profit organization, has raised funds through community activities, events, and grassroots programs to help local hospitals and organizations fight cancer and help patients survive and thrive. Since its inception, MMCF has proudly donated more than $5 million to local hospitals, organizations, and health care facilities for direct patient care services, education, and other cancer-related programs and initiatives.

This year, on Sunday, May 16, 2010, MMCF will host “A Tasting at the Station” at Green Spring Station in Lutherville, MD to benefit the Cancer Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center and The Red Devils. This event will be attended by more than 300 community members representing St. Joseph Medical Center, The Red Devils, and MMCF; as well as medical vendors, local foundations, and corporations. It will be fun-filled; with fantastic food, wonderful entertainment, festive music, activities, and exciting raffles. The proceeds from the event will enable cancer patients in urgent need of funds to receive lifesaving treatment and care and the hope of a cure.

To attend Tasting at the Station, you may complete the reply card or send an email to momjps@aol.com. Tickets are $75 per person.

About MMCF
Over forty years ago, a group of young women came together for the purpose of making a meaningful contribution to the welfare of others. Soon after, and before definite plans were formulated, Mildred Mindell, their close friend and adviser, was fatally stricken by cancer. After Mildred’s premature death, these young friends knew that their cause was established, and they pledged themselves to memorialize her name in a significant and befitting manner. Thus, in 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland, the Mildred Mindell Cancer Foundation was born.

As we further reflect, we must ask why

Kelly Corrigan Reading, April 27th

Reading Lift

BEST-SELLING AUTHOR AND BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR KELLY CORRIGAN LIMITED ENGAGEMENT TO BENEFIT THE RED DEVILS

Corrigan to Regale Audience with Excerpts from New Book, Lift

Kelly Corrigan comes to Baltimore Tuesday, April 27 for a limited engagement at Mercy Medical Center to benefit The Red Devils. The Noon – 2:00 p.m. luncheon is limited to the first 100 who register in advance on line.

The Bay Area resident who hails from the Philadelphia Main Line debuts her second novel, Lift, in March. Written as a letter to her children, Lift is a tender, intimate, and robust portrait of risk and love; a touchstone for anyone who wants to live more fully. In Lift, Corrigan weaves together three true and unforgettable stories of adults willing to experience emotional hazards in exchange for the gratifications of raising children. Lift takes its name from hang gliding. For Corrigan, this air flight becomes a metaphor for all of life’s most meaningful endeavors, particularly the great flight that is parenting. Corrigan serves it up straight — how both mundanely and fiercely how her children have been loved, how close most lives occasionally come to disaster, and how often we fall short as mothers and fathers.

Tickets are $35 per person which covers lunch and a copy of Lift. Discounted parking with validation is available in Mercy’s Saratoga Street garage. Location is the Truman T. Seman Room, one level above The Weinberg Center’s open lobby area, 301 St. Paul Place. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Space is limited. Register today!

The Red Devils would like to thank Mercy Medical Center for partially underwriting this event.
